HISTORY OF SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 255 mill was rebuilt after its destruction by fire and is still in operation. The town has grown recently since the building of the St. Louis & San Francisco Railroad. It is the shipping point for a con- siderable area of farming country and the town is supported principally by the farming interests. There is a large flouring mill and other business interests of the usual charac- ter; the town supports several church organi- zations, the largest and most flourishing being the Catholic church, and a public school. The population at present is 702.
