To the right of a table in the centre stands a peasant, in profile to the left, who pours out a glass of liquor. To the right behind him is a small three-legged stool ; behind it are two figures. In the left foreground a smoker sits on a chair with his legs crossed. Behind him another man sits at the table, leaning his head in his right hand and waiting for his glass to be filled. Another peasant stands behind the table, facing the spectator, and watches the filling of the glass. In the back wall is a chimney-piece. Described from a mezzotint by J. Gole (Wessely, 204). 7 7 40.
