A woman with a basket on her head, a boy, and a dog cross to the left. In the centre, in the right foreground, are two cows. The bank to the left is densely wooded. In front is a group of two girls standing and a seated herdsman. Near them are three goats and the head and neck of a reddish-brown cow. The bank to the right has a few trees and ascends towards a distant hill. Clouds with sunlit edges in the sky. The figures and animals are by Berchem.
