Half-length ; turned to the right, standing at a table, with his right hand on his breast. He wears a black clerical gown with velvet bands, a flat collar with two tassels, and a black cap. He has curly brown hair and a slight grey moustache. A vellum-covered book lies on the brown tablecloth. Grey background. Signed in full, and dated 1662 ; canvas, 33 inches by 26| inches. He wears a loose robe and a large wig. At the back is some elaborate baroque architecture. In a recess to the left is a statue of Justice ; to the right is a view of a park. The attribution is uncertain. According to M. Friedlander, it is the work of M. van Musscher. Signed in full, and dated 1676 ; canvas, 2i| inches by 19 inches.
