ansò. Ví an mac lag. Tá bróg ansò. Ví bróg eli ansò iné. Tá gé ansò. Tá an gé óg. Beg Eilís ansò amáireach.

Wil, Nil, and Na Fail.

In our last lesson we had examples of tá, is; ví, was, and beg, will be. We now introduce the interrogative and negative of tá. The interrogative is wil, and the negative is níl. There is also an emphatic interrogative—ná fail. The question “is he here” is in Irish wil sé ansò. If the answer is níl or níl sé (he is not) a further question may be asked ná fuil sé ansò (is he not here). The reply to either question must either be tá or níl. This explains how the words are used and with the addition of another word ach (but) and go dein (indeed) to our vocabulary we shall proceed to examples.
