33He turneth rivers into a wilderness,
And watersprings into a thirsty ground;
34A fruitful land into a salt waste,
For the wickedness of them that dwell therein.
35He turneth a wilderness into a pool of water,
And a dry land into watersprings.
36And there He maketh the hungry to dwell,
And they establish a city of habitation;
37And sow fields, and plant vineyards,
Which yield fruits of increase.
38He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly,
And suffereth not their cattle to decrease.
39Again, they are minished and dwindle away
Through oppression of evil and sorrow.
40He poureth contempt upon princes,
And causeth them to wander in the waste, where there is no way.
41Yet setteth He the needy on high from affliction,
And maketh his families like a flock.
42The upright see it, and are glad;
And all iniquity stoppeth her mouth.
43Whoso is wise, let him observe these things,
And let them consider the mercies of the Lord.

108 A Song, a Psalm of David.

2My heart is steadfast, O God;
I will sing, yea, I will sing praises, even with my glory.
3Awake, psaltery and harp;
I will awake the dawn.
4I will give thanks unto Thee, O Lord, among the peoples;
And I will sing praises unto Thee among the nations.
5For Thy mercy is great above the heavens,
And Thy truth reacheth unto the skies.
6Be Thou exalted, O God, above the heavens;
And Thy glory be above all the earth.
7That Thy beloved may be delivered,
Save with Thy right hand, and answer me.
8God spoke in His holiness, that I would exult;
That I would divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.
9Gilead is mine, Manasseh is mine;
Ephraim also is the defence of my head;
Judah is my sceptre.
10Moab is my washpot;
Upon Edom do I cast my shoe;
Over Philistia do I cry aloud.
11Who will bring me into the fortified city?
Who will lead me unto Edom?
12Hast not Thou cast us off, O God?
And Thou goest not forth, O God, with our hosts?
13Give us help against the adversary;
For vain is the help of man.
14Through God we shall do valiantly;
For He it is that will tread down our adversaries.

109 For the Leader. A Psalm of David.

O God of my praise, keep not silence;
2For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of deceit have they opened against me;
