A map of the rivers acting as borders for Maryland and Virginia, centering on Harper's Ferry
A map of Harper's Ferry (formerly in Virginia, now in West Virginia), lying at the internal point where the Shenandoah River meets the Potomac River. To the north of the rivers are the "Maryland Heights" in Maryland; to the south are the "Loudoun Heights" in Virginia, two sections of mountain ridges. There is an arrow in the southern part of the map pointing southwest labeled "To the Great Black Way." Six locations are marked: 1. Kennedy Farm, 2. School-house, 3. Armory, 4. Arsenal, 5. Engine-house, 6. Rifle-works.
