A bill to incorporate the stockholders of the bank of Wiskonsin.

Mr. Stockton, on leave granted, introduced

A bill to incorporate the bank of Macomb county.

The foregoing bills were severally read the first time.

The bill repealing a part of the act entitled an act for the punishment of crimes, was read a third time and passed.

On motion of Mr. Bacon,

The Council proceeded to the consideration of executive business, and having disposed of the same,

The Council adjourned.

Monday, February 17, 1834.

The president presented a petition from sundry inhabitants of the Territory of Michigan, praying for an alteration of the law giving to mechanics and others, a lien upon buildings for their labor and materials. Referred to the committee on the judiciary.

Mr. Durocher presented a petition from Antoine Lasselle, praying for authority to sell and convey certain land. Referred to the committee on the judiciary.

Mr. Bacon presented a petition from sundry inhabitants of townships 7, 8 and 9, range 4 east, in the county of Lenawe, praying to be organized into a separate township. Referred to the committee on territorial affairs.

Mr. Millington presented a petition from sundry inhabitants of the township of Napoleon, in the county of Jackson, remonstrating against the petition praying "that the division between the townships of Grass Lake and Napoleon may be established through the centre of township No. 3 south, running east and west." Referred to the committee on territorial affairs.

On motion of Mr. Doty,

Resolved, That the committee on the judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of repealing all the laws of this territory, except those which are contained in the volume of condensed laws, printed by Sheldon M'Knight, and also excepting all private, incorporation and township acts.

Mr. Doty laid on the table the following resolution:

Resolved by the Legislative Council of the Territory of Michigan, That the delegate in Congress from this territory be, and he is hereby requested to urge the enactment of a law by Congress, establishing a separate territorial government west of lake Michigan, and a recognition of the line, running west from the most southerly bend of lake Michigan, as the southern boundary of that territory, established by the fifth of the articles of the Ordinance of 1787.

Resolved, That the president of the Council transmit a copy of the foregoing resolution to the honorable Lucius Lyon, delegate in Congress from this territory.
