Mr. Stockton moved to postpone the farther consideration of the bill to Monday next. The motion was lost.

Mr. Doty moved to fill the blank in the fifth section with 500 dollars.

Mr. Martin moved a call of the house; and the names of members being called over, and one member appearing to be absent,

Mr. Doty moved to dispense with the further call.

The motion was lost.

The president having decided that any further proceeding under the call must be on an order of the Council,

Mr. Hascall appealed from the decision of the chair: and on the question, "Shall the decision be confirmed?" it was decided in the negative, as follows:

Yeas: Messrs. Bacon, Doty, Millington, Renwick, Satterlee—5.

Nays: Messrs. Britain, Durocher, Farnsworth, Hascall, Martin, Stockton—6.

The president directed the sergeant-at-arms to proceed to the residence of the absent member and bring him to the Council.

Mr. Bacon moved that the Council adjourn. The motion was decided in the negative.

Mr. Bacon moved a recess of the Council until two o’clock.

Mr. Stockton moved a recess for half an hour.

Mr. Farnsworth moved to lay the bill on the table.

The foregoing motions were severally disagreed to.

The sergeant-at-arms having returned, reported that the absent member was sick, and unable to return.

Mr. Hascall moved to lay the bill on the table. The motion was lost.

Mr. Durocher moved that the Council adjourn. The motion was disagreed to.

The questions on filling the blank in the fifth section of the bill with 500 dollars; with 400; 350; 300; 250; 200, were successively taken, and disagreed to.

Mr. Britain moved to lay the bill on the table. The motion was lost.

Mr. Bacon moved to recommit the bill to the committee on the judiciary. This motion was also lost.

On motion of Mr. Hascall, the further consideration of the bill was postponed to the next session of the Council, by yeas and nays, as follows:

Yeas: Messrs. Bacon, Britain, Doty, Hascall, Martin, Renwick, Satterlee, M'Donell, president—8.

Nays: Messrs. Durocher, Farnsworth, Millington, Stockton—4.

On motion of Mr. Doty, the Council resolved itself into a committee of the whole on bill No. 19, to incorporate the stockholders of the Bank of Wiskonsin; and, after some time spent therein, the
