Musch 9/6 1914.

Not by might nor by

power, but by Spirit, says

The Lord of hosts.

Zech. 4, 6.

My dear, dear friends!

A heartfelt, warm thank you for the great gift you sent me; it will be a good help, as I this fall will expand the work with the sick more will be needed for the supply and furnishing of the two hospitals.

From Mezereh I was sent 10 beds and 12 blankets, so that was a good start. If you’ll allow me, I would like to be able to spend 100 kr. for the furnishing of the hospitals and the other two for supply and for the sick and the poor.

Likewise, this fall, we will begin a youth association in Musch with God's help. From the German Youth Association in Uchtenhagen I received 250 mark for renting rooms for a couple of years, wasn't that a good start? It should be wonderful to begin such a deed that is much needed. For a long time, this has been my wish. I think missionary Sommerhagen will be the right man to lead it. We also need books for a library, if any of our friends will help us, it would be a great pleasure. After all, it is so important to influence young people through good books.

I can also bring the joyful news that we have bought space and two smaller houses right next to and behind the assembly building. The place is healthy and central and is suitable for the school deed. This year I will be staying in the larger of the houses, which has 4 rooms and a large kitchen. The outpatient clinic must be kept somewhere else, must rent 2 rooms to this. The houses and the space is written in the name of Badvelli Krikor, but later they will be transferred to one of the missionaries' names, but it will take time. I immediately had it built a stone wall on the property on one side to secure the border at once. A Turkish man gives us many difficulties in one place and has torn down part of the wall, even though we are in our right. Our badvelli have complained and we hope the government will give us justice. Yes, it is a difficult country we live in.

I would love to hear more about Pastor Lohmann's visit at home in Norway. Did any of you hear him speak to the students. How was it? Were there none of them who felt called to come out and help us? May the Lord send a physician soon, it is urgently needed.

In Bitlis, for a long time, there was much trouble, the Kurds revolted against the government; But now, after they were beaten, and 13 Kurds hanged, and a great deal put in prison, peace and order has regained. Here in Musch, the Kurds were also quite uneasy at that time, though they did not dare to riot here, as they are not as many and as strong as in the Bitlis area.

Thank God, I'm not so tired this year. If God wills it, then I'm thinking of riding over to Mezereh in July. Mr. Pastor Ehmann has invited me there, and I am really looking forward to that, and I would also like to talk to Mr. Ehmann about the work, the schools, etc. It takes 6-7 days to ride there, and the trip is quite strenuous; but I'm used to it. The 1st night I will spend up in the monastery "Surp Garabed", where last year I spent the summer holidays. Last week we had a visit from a German missionary, Mr Blanck, who is the builder and manager of the carpentry workshop in Marasch. He believed that the larger of the houses could by some changes be arranged as a girls' school and there would be room for 8 school rooms, when the interior was remodeled, and the little one included. I was with him looking for space outside Musch for a hospital.
