I remember seeing a series of sketches at this great artist’s house, illustrative of Napoleon’s
career. Of how many noble and unfinished designs is every painter’s portfolio the grave! It
is, however, to be hoped that Mr. Wilkie will carry the design into execution. It would be a
pictorial epic.
