thereon, the said Defendant may plead; Proceedings theron in ſuch Manner as if he had appeared upon the Proceedings Return of the Summons; and if the Cauſe of Action, contained in ſuch Plaint, ſhall be perſonal, and of more Value than One Hundred current Rupees, and the Plaintiff, by Affidavit, or, being a Quaker, by Affirmation in Writing, to be filed of Record, ſhall ſatisfy the ſaid Supreme Court of Judicature, at Fort-William in Bengal that the Defendant is juſtly and truly indebted to him, in a greater Sum than One Hundred current Rupees, or if he ſhall, by like Affidavit, or Affirmation, to be filed as aforeſaid, verify, to the Satisfaction of the ſaid Supreme Court of Judicature, at Fort-William in Bengal, a Caſe of ſuch enormous perſonal Wrong as in the Judgment of the ſaid Supreme Court of Judicature, at Fort-William in Bengal, requires ſuch Security, the ſaid Supreme Court of Judicature, at Fort-William in Bengal, ſhall and is hereby authorized and empowered to award and iſſue, in lieu of the Summons aforeſaid, a Writ or Warrant, to be prepared in Manner above-mentioned, and directed to the ſaid: Sheriff, commanding him to arreſt and ſeize the Body of ſuch Defendant, and to. have his ſaid Body, at a Time and Place, in the ſaid Writ to be ſpecified, before the ſaid Court, to anſwer the ſaid Plaint; and to give ſufficient Security, to be approved of by the ſaid Supreme Court of Judicature, at Fort William in Bengal, that he will ſtand to, and perform the Judgment of the ſaid Supreme Court of Judicature, at Fort William in Bengal, upon the Premiſes, and pay all. ſuch Sum or Sums of Money as ſhall thereby be awarded; and the ſaid: Supreme Court of Judicature, at Fort-William in Bengal may, in and by the ſaid Writ or Warrant, authorize the ſaid Sheriff to deliver the Body of ſuch Defendant, ſo arreſted, to ſufficient Bail, upon their ſufficient Recognizance and Security given that ſuch Defendant ſhall appear, at a Time and Place mentioned in ſuch Writ or Warrant, and in all Things perform and fulfil the Exigence there of; and upon the Appearance of ſuch Defendant, in and before the ſaid Supreme Court of Judicature, at Fort-William in Bengal We do hereby authorize and empower the ſaid Supreme Court of Judicature, at Fort-William in Bengal to commithim
