The following Discourse of the Rev. E. W. Blyden, and the succeeding Address by the Rev. Alexander II. Crummell, both Liberians, we commend to the deep regards of all our free colored brethren, as well as to all who may be especially interested in their welfare. The friends of the College in Liberia may congratulate themselves in the elevation of these two gentlemen to important professorships in that Institution, over which ex-President Roberts has been chosen to preside. The progress of education in Liberia is a cheering sign of its prosperity. The treasures of a State are its learned and able men, and such are beginning to shew themselves in Liberia.
