his being nephew and heir-apparent to the old Susuhnnan, arrived soon after the Munko-Negoro, coming in a carriage gorgeously decorated with bright colours and gilding, drawn by six Australian horses, and escorted by four of his body-guard. He was a young man, about two-and-twenty, the father of a pretty boy, and of several daughters, who were left at home, as in this country girls are sel- dom brought into company. In person he was short, with a strong Hindoostanee cast of counte- nance. His eyes were large, dark, and brilliant ; but expressive of mildness and tenderness.
