PREFACE.
The present list of English editions and translations of the Greek
and Latin classics was prepared by Miss Henrietta Palmer and offered to the Bibliographical Society on the advice of Professor Flügel, of the Leland Stanford University, California. While the list as here printed is essentially Miss Palmer's work, individual titles and imprints have been extended and some new entries added by the aid of friends at London, Oxford, and Cambridge. For harmonizing the work of these helpers and seeing the list through the press the Hon, Secretary is responsible and any imperfections found in it must be attributed to him
rather than to the author.
