THE EASTER MESSAGE.

ONCE more the promise of the spring,
The quickening and awakening
Of sap and shoot,
And tender root;
Once more the miracle of birth
Along the length and breadth of earth;
Once more the breath
Of life for death.
Released again from winter's doom
Of frozen days, from Lenten gloom,
We seem to stand
In some new land,
And fresh the breeze that blows abroad
That brings the message of our Lord,
