THE STAR OF TRUTH.
I follow fast, I follow far,
From dusk to dusk a glimmering star;
Ingulfed at times by thickest night,
I lose my breath, I lose my sight.
Then, for a space, bold heart and hope
Forsaketh me, yet still I grope;
Still by some instinct led afar
To seek, and seek that glimmering star.
From time to time false lights betray,
Strange voices call along the way;
Now here, now there, confused, misled,
I turn aside with stumbling tread,
