Against pluralities ; (Exod. xviii. 18) " This thing is too heavy for thee ; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone." And S. Luke xix. 21 " Thou art an austere man : thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow/' That ecclesiastical revenues are not to be laid out on the possessor's family; {Lev. xxii. 12) " If the priest's daughter also be married unto a stranger, she may not eat of an offering of the holy things:" and Prov. xxviii. 24 "Whoso robbeth his father or his mother," that is, GOD and the Church "and saith, It is no transgression ; the same is a companion of the destroyer."
