The author, in the compilation of this work, appears to have freely used Schomberg's Elements of the Roman Law, (" an amusing and superficial little work,") with a sprinkling of authorities borrowed from Gibbons, 44th chapter. It is an unfavorable specimen of Mr. Butler's labors, being neither noted for accuracy or depth of research.
