JUD JONES, WILLIAM. Observations on the Insolvent Debtors Act ; miscalled "An Act for Relief of Insolvent Debtors." 8vo. Lon- don. 1829. JORIO, MICH. Giurisprudenza del Comraercio. 4 vol. 4to. Napoli. 1799. This author, on account of his extensive knowledore of Commercial Law, was selected, in 1779, to prepare a maritime Code for Ferdinand IV. " He availed himself of the opportunity thus afforded him, to compose a long theory of Commerce and Navigation, and of the Laws of Peace and of War, as well as to write a History of Legislative Sta- tutes, and of the writings of private authors relative to Maritime Law." Only twenty-five copies of the Codice Fernando, were printed, and the extent of the work prevented its final adoption. Chapter IV. of AzunVs Sistema, etc., which occupies one hundred and sixty pages of the French translation, is a literal and textual copy of a part of the Code drawn by Jorio, which Azuni had tlie boldness to steal without any sort of acknow- ledgment. Jorio's writings evince uncommon learning and legal accu- men, and deserve the attention of all writers upon Commercial Law. Reddie's Mar. Com. 294, 302 ; Dup'n's Camus, 428. JOURNAL OF LAW. Svo.
