M. Ahrens' work will be consulted by any one who desires to know the actual state of the science of natural law in Germany. This publication is in very good repute on the continent, and its value will now be more extensively known, having been translated into Italian and German. The author closes his production by giving a succinct history of the philosophy of law from the ancient to the present time. 2 Revue et Etranger, N. S. 24.

AIKIN, JOHN G. A Digest of the Laws of the State of Alabama. Containing all the Statutes of a public and general nature, in force at the close of the session of the General Assembly, in Jan. 1833. 8vo. Philadelphia. 1833. 2d ed. 1836.

This Compilation is an Alphabetical Digest of the laws of Alabama, and was warmly commended for its arrangement and execution, by Commissioners appointed to examine the work before it was submitted to the Legislature for adoption. It is furnished with a very full Index, and contains, in an appendix, the Rules of Practice of the Supreme Court of Alabama. This Digest has now been superseded by a later work of the same kind, compiled by Clay.
