STE generally followed by succeeding writers in this department of the law. Lord Hale took Les Pkcs del Coron, as the foundation of his excellent works upon Criminal Law. Staundforde copies largely from Bracton, but the appropriateness of his extracts, and the perspicuous and accurate manner in which he disposes of the learning pertinent to his subject, made his work, in former times a favorite with the Profession. In Mr. Staundforde, says Fulbeck, there is force and weight, and no common kind of style ; in matter, none hath gone beyond him ; in method, none hath overtaken him ; in the order of his writing he is smooth, but yet sharp, pleasant, but yet grave.
