POEMS OF JAMES RYDER RANDALL

Happy is he,
Made a present to God,
That his mother might see
Her way to the skies.
By the path of the wise,
Where the chosen who triumph in anguish have trod.

Christ, in His passion,
Teaches your heart
How sadness may fashion,
With wonderful grace,
The soul for its place
Where mothers and children have never to part.

Cling to the Cross
That was sent you to save
From terrible loss,
Till you have risen
From the tomb’s prison,
Welcomed by Christ who has conquered the grave!
