Each square had a number on it that corresponded with a chart on the wall, drawn to a very large scale, the squares on the chart being again subdivided into minute squares, each of which bore a number or sign. "For instance," said he, "one group controls the right hand and all its fingers and nerves, another, the left hand and all its fingers, and so on.
