"Tomo el rumbo á la costa, y salio de la Republica, embarcandose para Orleans"—"He took the road to the coast and sallied from the Republic, embarking himself for New Orleans"—has passed almost into a formula in the accounts of public men, New Orleans having always been a notable place of temporary refuge and plotting for their return.
