steeples, it will be as lovely, as contented, or as happy as it is to-day. May Heaven grant it! and as to this, so to every other spot in Mexico. But how glad one should be to have seen it before improvement stepped in to civilize and spoil! Just as it is, strange mixture of industry and unthrift, of sweetness and impurity, of barrenness and luxurious richness, of poverty and wealth, of repulsiveness and fascination, has the world to-day anything better to offer than a Mexican holiday?
