T NSTANCES occur
JL far too frequently of individuals and firms being seriously crippled by the defalcations of Employees in whom they had complete con- fidence. Speculation, living beyond their means, and a variety of other causes frequently lead Employees to " bor- row " the money of their Employers generally with the intention of making good their de- falcations. The mere knowledge by an Em- ployee that his fidelity is guaranteed by an in- suring Company and of what that guarantee implies, has a deterring influence whenever the temptation may arise to " borrow " even the most trifling sum.
