The outside of Mollo's castle. Bertha, Sigurtha, and others discovered on the walls, and several Servants and Retainers standing by the gate below.


Berth. O, will they ne'er appear? I'll look no more;
Mine eager gazing but retards their coming,
(Retires and immediately returns again.)
Holla, good Murdoch! (to a Servant below)
Thou put'st thy hand above thy sunned eyes:
Dost thou descry them?

First Ser.Mercy, gentle Lady!
If you descry them not from that high perch,
How should I from my level station here?

Sig. (to Berth.) Go in, my child, thou art worn out with watching.

(Berth. retires, and 2d Servant goes at some distance from the walls and looks out another way.)


Sec. Ser. Here comes the noble Selred.

(All call out)Noble Selred!

Berth. (returning upon the wall) What, Ethwald, say ye?

Sig. No, it is Selred.
