development of the moral ideal takes place, is never, in an incipiently moral being, a mere blind affect, but has its essential core in an intellectual recognition of a human society.

For ethical subjectivism, virtue is indeed knowledge, but not any knowledge. It is real knowledge, actual knowledge, knowledge as the determining motive of conduct.
