HOLIDAYS.
207

Whither went the lovely hoyden?
Disappeared in blessed wife;
Servant to a wooden cradle,
Living in a baby's life.

Fate grants each to stand aside;
Now must thou be man and artist,—
'Tis the turning of the tide.
