AFTER THE MOUNTAINS.
AFTER THE MOUNTAINS.
[To L. C. B.]

IN my dreams I see the hill-tops
Where the cloudy pathways led,
You and I have trod together
In the days that now are dead.

Still I see their shining splendors
Height on height before me rise,
And the radiance of their glory
Streams across my half-shut eyes.

In my dreams you are beside me,—
Still I hear your tender tone,
While your soft eyes beam upon me,
And I am no more alone.
