TO A SLEEPING CHILD.
NOT thus, O joyous child, repose
With crossed hands on thy baby breast;
Pathetic attitude of those

With dimpled arm thy head surround,
Like as a bird with bonny wing;
Sure as a bird at morn to bound
From this thy nest and, birdlike, sing!
