He hath never yet forsaken
One who trusts alone in God;
He your life-long debt hath taken,
And hath paid it with His Blood.

From your sins He waits to cleanse you,
You! the slave by Satan bound;
Messages of love He sends you:
Where can such a Friend be found?

Are you sick? His word can heal you.
Are you weary with the strife?
Are you hungry? He can fill you
With the heavenly Bread of Life.

Now! it is the time to try it:
Test Him by His written Word;
Come! for He will ne'er deny it;
Come to Christ, the Risen Lord!

Do you fear His sharp reproving
That you did not go before;
That you left Him—so unloving—
Waiting long time at your door?

He will only smile and greet you,
Chasing shadows from your brow;
He will surely run to meet you,
Saying, "Thou art welcome now!"
