of sunfish (Lepomis gibbosus and auritus) were secured, as well as one of the common pike (Esox lucius). No less than twenty sunfish appear upon one plate, and in not a single fish is any movement discernible, the exposure having been made in less than a second. obtained, and this picture is here reproduced as a fair example of such success as attended the other attempts (Fig. 3). Where failures here were made, they were due to the insufficiency of light, the too rapid movements of the fish, and to reflections upon the glass of the aquaria. In a few cases all these difficulties conspired to defeat the hopes of the photographer.
