The Taxidermist at Work

The taxidermist has some unpleasant work to do in the preparation of the animal for mounting. The bony structure of the head must be carefully cleaned out and scraped free from all particles of flesh. Then it is washed in carbolic acid. The skin also must be care- fully scraped on the inside and "cured"

Scraping the skeleton. After this is done the taxidermist works over it with tow or clay to get the proper contour. When the worked- over skull has dried and set, the skin is drawn over it and finished off so carefully that, when the hunter receives his trophy, it seems just as it appeared in its native haunts
