ASPIRATION AFTER THE DIVINE OFFICE.

While St. Mechtilde was praying for one who had complained to her that she frequently said her hours with great distractions, she received this answer from our Lord: Let her always say, after each hour, the following prayer; adding, that if it could not be said punctually after each separate hour, it should at least be said seven times during the day.

O God, be merciful to me a sinner! or, O most meek and gentle Lamb of God, have mercy on me, and deign to supply all my defects and negligences in saying this hour.
