úa huaⁿ-hí,
I am pleased.
úa che̍jk-nâng huaⁿ-hí,

lṳ́ lãu-tōa chhiáⁿ-chõ,

ngô-tĩ m̄-hiáu,
I, your stupid younger brother, do not understand.
i-nâng lâi--liáu,
he has come.
i-nâng tõ,
he is here.
i-nâng chhut-koi,
he has gone out into the street.
i-nâng chiẽⁿ-chhĩ,
he has gone up to the market.
iũ, úa bô,
he has, I have not.
in ũ, nán bô,
they have, we have not.
hiã, hṳ́-sî bô-tõ,
I, at that moment, was not there.
put-chhâi sĩ jī-cha̍p-hùe,
I, the witless one, am twenty years old.
siáu-nâng bô-mêng-pe̍h,
I, the small one, do not understand.
ún tâng-sim tâng-ì,
we are of the same heart and purpose.
úa-téng chhiet-khiû--lṳ́,
we earnestly pray you.
lṳ́-po̍k m̄-káⁿ--phièn-lṳ́,

i chṳ̃-kí m̄-húeⁿ,
he himself does not want to.
i-kù chṳ̃-kí tiāⁿ,
he regards himself only.
Tãi-Jîn ũ bûn-chṳ--lâi,
Your Excellency, the despatch has come.
Tãi-Jîn ge̍k-chûn tõ-thẽng--lṳ́,
Your Excellency, the gig is waiting for you.
lãu-nâng-ke chia̍h-tê,
venerable Sir, take tea.
i-pńg-nâng hán-tit-lâi,
