In 1621, in the official list of refugees in Dover, we find “Mr Michell Mel, advocate in the court of Normandie.” The Rouen French Church register has in 1669, “Michel Mel, escuyer, Sieur d’Etrimont.” Among those naturalized at Westminster are “James Mell” in 1687 (List xiii.), and “Michael Mell” in 1700 (List xxiv.).
