The sounds of a flute filled this humble abode; its lonely occupier the captive dancing-master, in his dressing-gown and night-cap, was whiling away the dull winter evening by playing old Swedish marches. Having devoted two whole hours to this pastime, the Swede took his flute to pieces, put it into its case, and proceeded to undress.
