In January 1796, the buſineſs of Priſoners of War was put under the direction of this new Board; and in 1805 the whole department of the Sick and Hurt was ſuppreſſed, and the duties transferred to it alſo, which leaves the balance as follows:

The eſtabliſhment of a ſeparate Board for the Tranſport ſervice was ſtrongly recommended ſo early as in 1788, by the Commiſſioners of Enquiry; and the advantages experienced from the adoption of it early in the war have moſt fully juſtified a compliance with that recommendation.
