An Act to amend the Royal Society of New Zealand Act 1933

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1. Short Title—This Act may be cited as the Royal Society of New Zealand Amendment Act 1964, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Royal Society of New Zealand Act 1933 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2. Patron, President, and Vice-Presidents—(1) Section 7 of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing subsection (3) (as amended by paragraph (a) of subsection 10 of section 50 of the Statutes Amendment Act 1949), and substituting the following subsections:

"(3) Every President and Vice-President shall come into office at the close of the annual meeting at which he was appointed and shall hold office until his successor comes into office.

"(3a) The President shall be eligible for reappointment to office for a further term of two years.
