Repealed by 4 Jac. 1. c. 1. fo far as it concerns the People of Scotland. " againft the Tr..ce, that they dare not provide Re- " niedy by Way of Act, for that the King's Enemies, f as well m the Parts beyond the Sea, as in the Realm " of Scotland, have hereof taken great Courage to " grieve the King's faithful liege People, in flaying " fome of them, and in taking fome of them Priioners, " and alio taking their Goods and Chatties, againft " the Tenor of the Truce, as well upon the main " Sea, as upon the Marches of Scotland, whereof the 4 ' faid Commons have humbly befeeched our faid So- " vereign Lord the King to provide Remedy ;" ' (3)
- the King willing, as well in this Cafe as in other, to
' take Order for the Imdemnity of his liege People ' and faithful Subjects, hath declared in this prefent ' Parliament, That of all Attempts made by his Ene- 4 mies upon any of his faithful liege People, againft ' the Tenor of any Truce taken before this Time, ' wherein is no exprefs Mention made, that all Marques ' and Reprifals fhail ceafe, the fame our Sovereign ' Lord the King will grant Marque in due Form c to all them that feel themfelves in this Cafe grieves!, ' (4) and our faid Lord the King will do the like to 4 all his liege People that feel them grieved againft the ' Tenor of any Truce, which betwixt him and any of 6 his Enemies fhall be newly taken hereafter. (5) 4 And to the greater Comfort of his faithful liege Peo-
- pie, to the intent that they may the more readily,
- and without long Delay, have Remedy in this Ca(e,
4 the fame our Lord the King will, That if he or they 5 that feel them grieved againft the Tenor and Form ' of fuch Truce within the Realm of England, out of 4 the faid Marches of Scotland, or upon the Sea, or in ■* the Parties beyond the Sea, fhall complain to the 4 Keeper of the Privy Seal, which for the Time fhall 4 be, who after fuch Complaint heard and perceived,
- thereof fhall make to the Party Complainant (if he
c the fame require) Letters of Requeft under the Privy 4 Seal in a due Form. And if, after fuch Requeft 4 made, the Party required do not make, within a con-
- venient Time, due Reftitution or Satisfaction to the
- Party grieved, then the Chancellor of England for
- the time being fhall caufe to be made to fuch Party
4 grieved (if he that demand) Letters of Marque under 4 the Great Seal in a due Form. (6) And as for Re- ' medy to be ordained for the King's liege People and 4 Subjects, that feel them grieved in the Realm of t Scotland, or in England at the Marches joining to Scot- 4 land, againft the Form of fuch Truce as afore is ' faid, our Lord the King fhall give Power by Com- ' miffion to the Wardens, as well of the Eaft Marches, 4 as of the Weft Marches, toward Scotland and to ' every of them, to hear the Complaints of all them ' his liege People and Subjects which be or fhall be
- grieved, and to caufe thereupon to be made Requeft
' by Letters to be delivered to him which hath done, 6 or fhall do, fuch Grievance, or to the Wardens of ' the Marches, or Confervator of the Truce of the 4 Parties of Scotland, if he may well do it ; or other- ' wife to make Proclamation in open Places upon the ' Marches, that he or they which have done fuch 4 Grievances againft the Truce, fhall make due Refti-
- tution or Satisfaction to the Party grieved ; (7) and

Et fi apres tiel requeft faite la partie requife ne ferra dedeinz temps covenable due reftitution ou fatisfaction a la partie grevee adonqes le Chaunceller dEngleterre pur le temps efteant ferra faire a tiele partie grevee fi le voet demander lettres de marque defoutz le grande feal en due fourme.
