C. if. 339 Ereftion whatfoever (except only Cranes, Stairs and Docks as aforcfaiil) placeJ or fct withln or upon the (Viid forty Foot of Ground or any Part thereof between the Places aforefaid ; (2) and that all Buildings that (hall hereafter immediately border upon any Part of the faid Cjround, upon the North-fidc thereof, fliail fionc and be placed in the Line that fnall be fct out for the Bounds of the Breadth of the faid forty Foot of Giotind Northward ; and that the fame Building fhall be of the fecond or third Sort or Rate of Build- ings mentioned in a former Aft of this prtfcnt Parliament, intituled, Jn j£i for tbd Rebuilding the Cily of '"id ■'■■<:■ -^^ London, at the Eleftion of the Rebuilder thereof; wherein fuch Regulariiy of Building (hall be obferved, and under fuch Penalties, as are contained in the faid Aft in that Behalf, and wherein fuch Uniformity alio ihall be had, as in other Streets of the faid City, except Common Halls for Companies, and other Buildings which fhall be othervvife allowed of by hi; Majefty. XLV. And be it further enafted. That all the faid Traft of Ground of the faid Breadth of forty Foot from the faid River fhall lie open and at large, without any Divifion or Separation, and that the Bounds of each Proprietor's Ground therein fliall be di'ilinguiflicd only by Denter-ftones to be placed in the Pavement thereof; and that the Line of the whole Key or Wharf between the Places aforefaid, and alfo the feveral Cranes and Stairs within the fame Places, fhall be afcertained by the Direftion of the Lord Mayor and Court of Aldermen, and fet out by their Surveyor accordingly, with his Majefty's Approbation, on or be- fore the four and twentieth Day of June one thoufand fix hundred and feventy : (z) And further. That no Lighter, Boats or other Veffels, fhall lie before any the faid Wharfs or Keys between the Places aforefaid, on the North-fide of the faid River, longer than fluall be necefTary for the Lading or Unlading of Goods, without the Confent and Permiffion of the Wharfingers or Proprietors thereof. XLVL And be it further enafted and declared. That it fhall and may be lawful for any Perfon or Per- fons to lade or unlade any Goods or Merchandizes at any of the faid Wharfs or Keys for Wharfage and Cranage, whereof every Proprietor, Wharfinger or other Perfon concerned, (hall and may demand and receive fuch Rates, and no other, for the fame, as fhall from Time to Time be fet out and appointed by j his Majefty, with the Advice of his Privy Council. XLVII. And be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid. That for the further Convenience of The Chanel o( Trade, the Chanel o( Bridnvell-Dcck from the Chanel of the River oii Thames to Holbovrn-Byidge (hall be Bridewell-Dock funk to a fufficient Level, whereby to make it navigable ; and that the Ground to be fet out for the Breadth to^Holbonrn"" ' of the faid Chanel, and of the Wharfs on each Side thereof, fnall not be lefs in Breadth than one hundred Bridge ro be i Foot ; nor (hall exceed one hundred and twenty Foot in Breadth : And that the Line of the faid Chanel, made navigable. 1 and Wharfs and Levels thereof, together with the Cranes and Stairs to be placed thereon, fhall be afcer- 6Geo. 2. c 22, tained by the faid Lord Mayor and Court of Aldermen, with his Majefty's Approbation, and fet out by the • j Surveyors accordingly at or before the firft Day o^ May next enfuing ; and that all the (aid Wharf-Ground on each Side of the faid intended River fhall lie open and at large (Cranes and Stairs only excepted) with- out any Divifion or Separation, and each Perfon's Propriety therein to be diftinguifhed only by Denter- ' (tones in the Pavement thereof: {2) And that all Buildings that fhall hereafter immediately border upon j each Side of the faid Wharfs, (hall front and be placed in the Line that fhall be fet out for the Bounds of j the Breadth of the Wharfs from the Chanel ; and that the faid Buildings fhall be of the fecond Rate of i Buildings mentioned in the faid Aft for Rebuilding, wherein fuch Regularity of Building fliall be obferved, and under fuch Penalties, as are contained in the faid Aft: (3) And that no Lighter, Boat or VefTel fliall i lie before any the faid laft mentioned Wharfs or Keys, longer than fliall be necefTary for the Lading or Un- '! lading of Goods, without the Confent or PermifTion of the Wharfingers or Proprietors thereof: (4) And ; that it fhall and may be lawful for any Perfon or Perfons to land any Goods or Merchandizes at any of the i faid Wharfs or Keys within the intended Chanel or Cut fo to be made for Wharfage or Cranage ; whereof ; everj' Proprietor, Wharfinger or other Perfon concerned fhall demand and receive fuch Rates, and no other, •; for the fame, as fliall from Time to Time be fet and appointed by his faid Majefty, with the Advice of his ; ■ Privy Council as aforefaid: (5) And that certain reafonable Rates for Tolls and other Profits arifing by the Navigation of the faid Chanel or Cut, (hall be fet and appointed by the Lord Mayor and Court of Alder- j men, v/ith Approbation of the Barons of the Exchequer, or tv/o or more of them, and the fame Tolls or 1 Profits ve(i:ed in the Mayor, Commonalty and Citizens of the City oi London, for Prefervation of the faid j Navigation, Sluces, and other incident Charges thereof. > , . XLVlIf. Provided always, and belt further enafted and declared, That the Sinking and Making of the How the Charge j faid intended Chanel oi Bridewell-Dock and Fleet-Ditch from the Chanel of the Thames to Holbourn-Bridge^ fiull beJdiiyed, and the Safles and Sluces for the better Navigation thereon, and the Raifing and Sinking other Wharfs or 1 Keys on each Side of the faid Bridnuell-Dock and Fleet-Ditch, (v/hereby to bring the fame to a Level) (liall I be born and firft defrayed by the Mayor and Commonalty and Citizens of the faid City o^ London, out of the faid fourth Part of the Impofition to be raifed upon Coals by Virtue of this Aft: (2) And that the faid i Mayor and Commonalty and Citizens (hall caufe the faid Chanels to be funk, and Wharfs or Keys to be . ! reduced to fuch a Level, as may be proper for the Proprietors of th-e Ground immediately bordering upon V tbe (itid Wharfs or Keys to build upon, with convenient Accefs thereto, before the firft of Au^vfl one thou- ' ^ fand fix hundred and feventy: And in the next Place after the Charge before mentioned fhall be born out ; of the faid fourth Part, Satisfaftion fhall be made out of the fame fourth Part to the Proprietors whofe Ground hath been or fhall be laid open, or from whom any Ground hath been or fliall be taken for the faid ■ publick Ufe. , : ' XLIX.
