And for the better afcertaining, charging, levying and collefting of all the faid feveral and refpe(3:ive Dut^eztobeumttr Duties hereby granted, Be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid, That all and every the faid Du- >he Mauagcmni tics and Impofitions by this Aft granted or impofed, as well upon Malt, as upon Mum, Cyder and Perry, fT"^f°TJ' fhall from Time to Time, during the continuance of this Aft, be within the Receipt, Management and "-^ Government of the chief Conimiffioners and Governors of the Receipt of Excife upon Beer, Ale, and other Liquors, for the Time being; and that all inferior Officers, whether they be Subcommiffioners, Colleftors, Supervifors, Gaugers, or others, that are or fhali be conftituted or appointed for levying, receiving, collefting, or anfwering of his Majefty's Duties of Excife upon Beer, Ale, and other Liquors, fhall within the refpeftive Lim.its or Diflrifl-s, or in the feveral Places or Stations to which they are or Dial! be appointed, be alfo the Subcommiffioners, Colleftors, Supervifors, Gaugers, or other Officers rofpeftively, for the feveral Duties by this Aft granted ; neverthelefs, under the Government and D"i- reftjon of the faid chief Commiffioners of Exciie for the Time being, or the Major Part of them, who have hereby Power to difmils or alter them, or any of them, and to make and conftitute trom Time to Time, fuch, and fo many inferior Officers, for the faid Duties hereby granted, and every or any of •them, as to the faid chief Commiffioners for the Time being, or the major Part of them, fliall feem; meet. And be it further enafted by the Authority aforefiid. That all and every the faid Malflers or Makers ^"^^V"^ Sf.-. f* ■of Malt for Sale, Sellers, or Retailers of Malt, Brewers, Diftiilers, Innkeepers, Viftuallers and Vinegar- "^xcik'oicT Makers, and all and every other Perfon and Perfons whatfcever, who in Truft for them, or any of ' ^^ ' them, or for the Ufe of them, or an"y of them, fhall be pofl'efled of, or have in his, her or their Cuflody or Pofleffion, or in his, her or their Ploules, Outhoufes, Barns, Granaries, or in any other Place or Places, whatfoever, upon the faid nirith Day oi March one thoufand feven hundred and one, any Parcel or Quan- tity of Malt whatfoever, fhail on or before the tenth Day of April ons. thoufand feven hundred and two, m^ke -a true and particular Entry thereof at the Office of Excife v/ithin the Limits of which they fliall then refpeftively inhabit, upon Pain to forfeit the Sum of fifty Pounds, and the Malt, for which no fuch En- try fliall have been made ; and within fix Days after he, fhe or they fliall have made or ought to have made fuch Entries, as aforefaid, fliall pay down the Duties hereby due or payable for fuch Malt to the proper Officer or Officers for receiving the fame; or within the faid fix Days fliall give Security to the laid refpeftive Officers for paying the laid Duties to his Majefty's Ufe within fix Months then next en- fuing ; and in cafe the faid Duties fliall be paid down within the faid fix Days, then there fliall be allowed out of the faid Duty for fuch Prompt Payment, a Difcount or Allowance after the Rate of eight Pounds per Caiium ^cr Annum., for the faid Time of fix Months. And be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid. That it fhall and may be lawful to and for all Officers mwmir fuch Officers as are or fliall be appointed, as aforefaid, refpeftively, to take a true and particular Account 'j^f ?'^*'^ ,and Admcafuremcnt of all fuch Malt as any Malfters or Makers of Malt for Sale, Sellers or Retailers of "'■'^' Malt, Brewers, Diftillers, Innkeepers, Viftuallers, or Vinegar-Makers, or any Perfon or Perfons for them, or any of chsni, fhall on the faid ninth Day of March one thoufand feven hundred and one, have or be pofTeffed of; and for that Purpole, fhall be permitted in the Day Time to enter into any Dwelling Hcufc, Outhoufe, Barn or other Place whatfoever belonging to fuch Mai fter or Maker of Malt for Sale, Sellers and Retailers of Malt, Brewers, Diftillers, Innkeepers, Viftuallers, and Vinegar-Makers, and every of them; who are hereby required to permit and fufFer fuch Officer or Officers, upon his or their Requelf, to make fuch Entrance on the faid ninth Day of March one thoufand feven hundred and one, or afterwards, at any Time before the Duty upon fuch Malt fliall be paid or fecured, and to take fuch Account and Admeafurement thereof, and to call fuch Malt into a regular Form, for the better afcertain- ing the (^lantity thereof, under the Penalty of twenty Pounds.
