WHEREAS by an Act of Parliament made the ninth Year of her prefsnt Majefty's Reign, g Anns, c. 27* intituled, Jn ASi for ths Encot!rage?nent of the Trade to KmnYic^, it is among other 'I'hings enadt- ed. That all Prize Goods and Commodities which, after the firft Day o^June one thoufand feven hun- dred and eleven, fliall be imported into any of the Ports of Great Britain, {hall be fubjedl: and liable to the Payment of the fame Duties as thofe Goods and Commodities would have paid in cafe they had not been Prize: And vAereas before the making the faid A61:, Prize Goods, being of the Growth and Pro- duce of Foreign Plantations not belonging to her Majeily or herSubjeiSts, wereTubjeet upon their Importa- tion into Great Britain, to pay only fuch Duties and Cuftoms as were payable on the feventecnth Day o( Alay in the Year of our Lord one thoufand feven hundred and three, for tiie like Goods of the Pro- duce of her Majefty's Plantations imported by Englifi Shipping: A.nd whereas feveral confiderable Quan- tities of Prize Cocoa, Sugars, Indigo, and other Prize Goods, of the Growth and Produce of fuch Fo- reign Plantations, have been already imported into this ICingdom, and are now in feveral Warehoufes un- der the Queen's Locks, and other Qiiantities of the like Goods are on Board divers Ships or Veffels, now imported, and more are daily expected, and if the famefliould pay the Duties they were to pay in cafe they had not been Prize, the fame will not be worth Freight, Cullom, and Charges ; which will be not only a great Lofs and Detriment to the Importers thereof, but alio a great Prejudice to the Trade of this Prize Goods 0?
