' XXXIII. And whereas by the unfair and fraudulent Practices of fome Makers of Sope, not only his c Majefty's Revenue, arifing by and from the Duties on Sope, is very much leffencd, but other Makers ' of Sope, and fair Traders therein, are thereby very much difcouraged and injured ;' For Remedy where- of, Be it enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That from and after the faid twenty-fourth Day of June Sope-Maken to one thoufand feven hundred and twenty-five, every Maker and Makers of Sope refpectively, before he, give Notice of fhe or they doth, do or fhall begin to make or work upon any making of Sope of any Sort or Kind what- the Time of foever, fhall give to the Officer of the Divifion or Place where fuch Sope is intended to be made, Notice mag bof ' ' in Writing of the particular Time and Hour when and at which fuch making is intended to be begun, as herein after is mentioned, (that is to fay) if fuch making is intended to be in or at any Place or Places if within the within the Limits of the Weekly Bills of Mortality, then and in fuch Cafe fuch Notice fhall be by the Weekly BiHt, Space of twelve Hours next before the Beginning of every fuch making ; and if fuch making is intended to lz H ° u " before be in or at any other Place or Places out of the Limits of the faid Weekly Bills, then and in fuch Cafe " ^ cins : fuch Notice fhall be by the Space of twenty-four Hours next before the Beginning of every fuch making ; Hours* ** on Pain of forfeiting and lofing the Sum of fifty Pounds, at every Time and Times when any making of Sope fhall be begun to be made or wrought upon, without firft giving fuch Notice as aforefaid. Forfeiture 50J. XXXIV. And be it further enacted and declared by the Authority aforefaid, That the putting Lees or What ihall be Lye into the Copper, Pan or other Utenfil whatfoever, ufually and commonly ufed by fuch Maker of deemed a Brjin- Sope for the making of Sope, fhall be deemed to be and is hereby declared to be a Beginning to work nm = t0 W0lk - upon and make fuch making of Sope, and fhall fubject the Maker of Sope, where the fame fhall be found and difcovered, to the Penalty and Forfeiture before-mentioned. XXXV. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That if fuch intended making of Sope, Notice void if whereof fuch Notice fhall have been given, fhall not be begun to be worked upon, and to be actually j"^" ng . d °. n " making, within the Times herein after mentioned, (that is to fay) if within the Limits of the faid Week- HoJnVTn the ly Bills, then and in fuch Cafe within the Space of fix Hours ; and if in any other Place or Places out of-yveek!> Bnis, the Limits of the faid Weekly Bills, then and in fuch Cafe within the Space of twelve Hours next after or n Hours' the particular Time or Hour mentioned and exprefl'ed in fuch Notice or Notices refpectively ; then and in elfewhere. every fuch Cafe and Cafes, fuch Notice and Notices refpectively fhall be null, void and of no Effect ; and Penalty on Ma> every Maker whatfoevdr of Sope, who after the Expiration of the faid Time's fhall begin to make orker working work upon fuch Making of Sope, without having firft given a new or other like Notice as aforefaid, O f™ ithout nevv his, her or their Intention to make or work upon fuch Making, fhall in every fuch Cafe incur and be fubject unto the like Penalty and Forfeiture, as if he, fhe or they had not thereof given any Notice at all. ' XXXVI. And whereas by an Act made in the tenth Year of the Reign of her late Majefty Queen 10 Ann, c 15, ' Anne, intituled, An Ac! for laying feveral Duties upon ail Sope and Paper made in Great Britain, or im- ' ported into the fame ; and upon chequered and firiped Linens imported, and upon certain Silks, Calhcoes, Lt-

  • nens and Stuffs, printed, painted or ftained ; and upon feveral Kinds of fampt Vellum, Parchment and Paper,
