C A P. I. An Aft for granting an Aid to his Majefty by a Land-Tax to be raffed in Great Britain, for the Service of the Year one thoufand feven hundred twenty-fix. EXP. z s. in the Pound. Surplus arifing hereby how appropriated, 12 Geo. 1. c. 12. feci 28. CAP. II. An Aft for granting to his Majefty the Sum of one Million, to be raifed by way of a Lottery MOST Gracious Sovereign ; Whereas by an Aft of Parliament made and palled in the feventh c - Year of your Majefty's Reign, intituled, An Ail for raifng a Sum not exceeding five hundred thou- c j"' Jj] at j n ' g *' find Pounds, by charging Annuities at the Rate of Jive Pounds per Centum per Annum, upon the Civil 10 DcJuftions b of Lift Revenues, till redeemed by the Croivn, and for enabling his Majefly, his Heirs or Succeffors (by caufing fuch 6 <*• p« Centum a Deduclion to be made, as therein is mentioned) to make good to the Civil Lijl the Payments which Jhall have onthe Cml Llft - been made upon the f aid Annuities ; and for borrowing Money upon certain Lottery Tickets ; and for difcharging the Corporation for AJfurances, of Part of the Money they were obliged to pay to his Majejly ; and for making good a Deficiency to the Eaft-India Company, it was (amongft many other Matters and Things) enacted, That to the End your Majefty, your Heirs and Succeffors, might be enabled to reimburfe fuch Sum and Sums of Money, as in Purfuance of the laid Aft fhould be iffued out of the Civil Lift Revenues, for or towards Payment of the Annuities charged by the laid Aft, it fhould and might be lawful for your Majefty, your Heirs or Succeffors, to caufe a Deduftion to be made, not exceeding fix Pence in the Pound, out of all Monies, which from and after the firft Day of Augifl one thoufand feven hundred and twenty- one fhould be paid for or upon all Penfions and Annuities charged upon any of the laid Hereditary and Temporary Duties, and for and upon all Salaries, Fees and Wages, payable for or in refpeft of Offices of Profit, granted by or derived from the Crown, and for and upon all other Payments from the Crown whatfoever, or for or upon any Arrearages of them, or any of them, incurred or to be incurred (the Pay of Commiffion and Non-commiffion Officers and private Men, ferving in the Navy or Army, only and always excepted) the fame Deduftions to be made for the Ufe of your Majefty, your Heirs and Succef- fors, for the Benefit of your or their Civil Government, fo long as the faid Annuities fhould, by Virtue of the faid Aft, be payable out of the Revenues charged therewith as aforefaid, and until the fame Annui- ties fhould be redeemed, purfuant to the faid Aft, as by the faid Aft, Relation being thereunto had, more fully and at large it doth and may appear : And whereas by Virtue and in Purfuance of another Aft of Parliament made and palled in the eleventh Year of your Majefty's Reign, intituled, An Aft for redeeming , , , . the Annuities of twenty-five thoufand Pounds per Annum, charged on the Civil Lrjl Revenues by an Ail of the ,['q1 ' c VJ feventh Tear of his Majejly s Reign ; and for difcharging the Debts and Arrears due from his Majefty to his Ser- concerning Ex- ' vants, Trade/men, and others, a Number of new Exchequer-Bills, not exceeding in the whole the Sum of chequer-Bills one million of Pounds Sterling, were made forth, and the Principal, Intereft, Premium, or Rate to grow charged thereon, due thereon, were charged and chargeable upon the Monies arifen or to arife by or from the faid De- duftions, and alfo upon fuch Monies, as at any Time or Times, from and after the making forth fuch Ex- chequer-Bills, fhould be or remain in the Receipt of the Exchequer, arifen or to arife from all or any the Duties, Revenues or Branches granted to your Majefty for the Support of your Houfhold, and the Honour and Dignity of the Crown, as we]] thofe which are Flereditary, as thofe which are granted during your Majefty's Life ; and from and after your Majefty's Demife, then upon all fuch Monies as from thenceforth fhall grow due and come into the Receipt of the Exchequer from the Hereditary Revenues, Duties and Branches therein mentioned, except as therein is excepted and provided ; and the Sum of five hundred thoufand Pounds, Part of the faid Sum not exceeding one million, in Exchequer-Bills, was iffued and applied for the Redemption of the faid Annuity of twenty five thoufand Pounds per Annum ; and the re- maining five hundred thoufand Pounds in Exchequer-Bills was iflued towards fatisfying the Debts and Arrears, and other Ufes of your Majefty's Civil Government, as in and by the faid lalt mentioned Act was direfted and appointed : Now the Publick Service requiring that the Exchequer-Bills remaining un- cancelled and undifcharged, which were iffued by Virtue of the faid Aft, and which do amount to the Principal Sum of nine hundred and ninety thoufand Pounds fhould, without Delay, be cancelled and dif- charged,' We your Majefty's mod dutiful and loyal Subjects, the Commons of Great Britain iii Parlia- ment affembled, do moft humbly pray your Majefty that it may be enacted ; And be it enacted by the King's The fa j dD moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Content of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and tions continued!
