CAP. XXX. ' An Act for encouraging and promoting Fifheries, and other Manufactures and Improvements in that Part of Great Britain called Scotland. ' /|/ HER E AS by the fifteenth Article of the Treaty o{ Union it is provided, that two thoufand Pounds V? per Annum, for the Space of feven Years, fhould be applied towards encouraging and promoting ' the Manufacture of coarfe Wool within thole Shires of Scotland, which produce the Wool, and that the firit ' two thoufand Pounds fhould be paid at Marti nmafs then next, and fo yearly at Martinmafs, during the 5 Geo. 1. c. so. ' Time aforefaid : And Svhereas by an Act paffed in the fifth Year of his Majefty's Reign, intituled, An Act ' for fettling certain yearly Funds, payable out of the Revenue of Scotland, to fatisfy pubtick Debts in Scotland, ' and other Ufes mentioned in the Treaty of Union ; and to difcharge the Equivalent claimed in behalf «/~Scotland, ' in the Terms of the fame Treaty, and for obviating all future Difputes, Charges and Expences, concerning thole ' Equivalents, It is amongft other Things provided, That yearly and every Year, reckoning the firft Year to ' begin from the Feaft of the Nativity of St. John Baptifl one thoufand feven hundred and nineteen, the full 6 Sum of two thoufand Pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain fhould be one yearly Fund, payable at the ' four moft ufual Feafts of the Year, that is to fay, the Feaft of St. Michael the Archangel, the Birth of our ' Lord Chrift, the Annunciation of the bleffed Virgin Mary, and the Feaft of the Nativity of St. John Bap- ' tift ; the fit ft Payment thereof to be due and payable at the Feaft of S t. Mid ael the Archmgcl in the Year ' one thoufand feven hundred and nineteen, to be charged upon and paid out of the Monies arifen and to ' arife, from Time to Time, of or for any of the Cuftoms, Duties, Excifes or Revenues that are or fhall be ' under the Management of the Commifiioners of the Cuftoms, and Commiffioners of the Excife in Scotland, ' after the Payments therein directed to be made, and fubject to Redemption by Parliament, upon Payment ^ of the full Sum of forty thoufand Pounds, and of all Arrears of the faid Annuity, if any fuch be, in fuch ' Manner as is more particularly mentioned in the faid Act, to be wholly applied towards the encouraging ' and promoting the Fifheries, and fuch other Manufactures and Improvements in Scotland, as may moftcon- ' duce to the general Good of the united Kingdom, according to the Tenor and true Meaning of the faid fif- ' teenth Article of the faid Treaty oi Union, and to no other Ufe, Intent or Purpofe whatfoever; which faid ' Annuity hath not hitherto been paid or applied to the Purpofes for which the fame was intended : And 1: Gcc.i. c.4.
