  • proper Certificates, teflifying the landing the faid Goods in Parts beyond the Seas; which Certificates in

' cafe of any Entry for, or landing the faid Goods in Ireland, or in any other Foreign Port or Place, where ' any Officer or Officers of his Majefty's Cuftoms fliall be refident, are to be figned by the proper Officer

  • or Officers of his Majefty's Cuftoms there; and in cafe of Entry for any other foreign Ports or Places, fuch

' Certificates, are to be under the Common Seal of the 'Chief Magiftrate in fuch Port or Place, or under the

  • Hands and Seals of two known Britijli Merchants, then being at fuch Port or Place : And whereas it is

' found impracticable to bring any fuch Certificates of landing, in Cafes where any of the faid Goods are

  • fold on the Coaft of Africa, and fome other foreign Places, wh -re no fuch Certificates as the Law directs

' can be obtained; and in Cafes of Tranfnipping at Jamaica, and any other of the Britijh Plantations in 4 America, without being landed there, into Ships or VefTels bound to Africa and other foreign Parts :' Be it ■WhenCertificate therefore enacted and declared by the Authority aforefaid, That in any of the faid Cafes, where fuch Cer- of landing Goods tificates could not or cannot be had or obtained as aforefaid, the Bonds or Securities already given on Ex- Maftcr, &c. difpofed of at the Places to be mentioned in the refpective Oaths or Affidavits, and that they have not been relanded or brought on Shore again in any Port or Part of Great Britain, provided fuch Proof be made on or before the firft Day of May one thoufand {even hundred and twenty-nine, otherwife the faid Bonds may be put in Suit as if this Act had not been made; and for the future fuch Bonds or Securities are to be difcharged and vacated, on the like Proof being made within eighteen Months from the Date of the Bond, that the faid Goods were fo difpofed of in foreign Parts as aforefaid, the Examination and Proof being left to the Judgment of the Commiflioners of the Cuftoms in England or Scotland refpectively for the Time being. % Geo. i.e. 15- <• X. And whereas in and by an Act of Parliament made in the eighth Year of his late Majefty King ' George the Firft, For Encouragement of the Silk Manufactures of this Kingdom, and for other Purpofes there- ' in mentioned, certain Allowances or Sums of Money are to be paid to the Exporters of Silk Stupfsmade in ' Great Britain, or Silk mixed with Gold or Silver, Grogram, Yarn, Incle, Cotton or Worfted, as in the ' faid Act. is exprefied; and Provifion was made in the laid Act, that no Allowance fnould be demanded or ' made for fuch of the laid Manufactures, when they are only mixed with Silk at the Edge or Ends of the ' Piece, which not being fufficient to prevent Frauds and Abufes in making thole Manufactures, a further 9 Geo. 1. c. 8. ' Provifion was made for that Purpofe by another Act made in the ninth Yeir of the Reign of his faid late Concerning Silk, <■ Majefty, which by Experience has ftill been found ineffectual, feveral ill difpofed Perfons having only put ^ '.'-■!'{ "' far ' a fin all Thread of Silk fcarce difcoverable in the Warp (by which is meant the Length of the Piece) not "(J 7X 26 Gee ' with Intent to benefit the Sale of the Goods, but with a Defign to obtain the Bounty Allowance on the 2. c. si. ' Exportation, contrary to the true Intent and Meaning of the faid Acts :' For Remedy whereof, be it en- acted and declared by the Autlv rity aforefaid, That the fai J Acts, or either of them, fliall not extend or be conftrued to extend to the making any Allowance on the Exportation of any of the Manufactures of Stuffs aforefaid, mixt with Silk, except the Silk that fhall be mixt in the Warp, fliall be obvious and apparent to the View of the proper Officers of the Cuftoms, and that the Silk therein ufed fhall be double the Value of the Bounty intended to be paid on the Exportation of the faid Manufactures refpectively; any Law or Cuftom to the contrary notwithftanding. .S Am.'c.Q.
