  • Wills to inroll the fame in due time, according to the Direction of the faid Claufes in the faid Acts :'

To relieve therefore fuch Proteftant Purchafers and Leffees, and fuch other Perfons as have neglected Protertant Pur- er omitted to inroll their De^ds or Wills in due time as aforefaid, be it enacted by the Authority ^^ma^i-ofl aforefaid That every Leed and Will, made fince the nine and twentieth Day of September in the Year Seeds or Wills, of our Lord one thoufand feven hundred and feventeen, in order to pafs, alter or change, any Manors, before 29 Sept. Lands Tenements, Hereditaments or any Intereft therein, or Rent or Profit thereout, from any Pa- '73 1 - pift or Perfon profeffing the Popifh Religion, though not inrolled, fhall be as good and effectual in the Law as the fame would have been in cafe the faid Deeds and Wills had been inrolled within the Times limited in the faid Claufes in the faid Acts for the Inrollment thereof; provided the fame Deeds and Wills (hall be inrolled on or before the nine and twentieth Day of September one thoufand feven hundred and thirty-one, in fuch Manner as by the faid Claufe in the faid firft mentioned Act is directed. VII. Provided always, That nothing herein contained fhall extend or be conftrued to extend to make Defau]ts good any fuel: Deed, Will or Leafe already made, and net inrolled, of the want of Inrollment whereof whereof Advan- Advantage (ball have been taken on or before the twenty-fifth Day of March one thoufand feven hundred tage has been and thirty ; but every fuch Deed, Will and Leafe, (hall remain of fuch Force and Effect only, as the taken,l:Xcei fame would have had if this Act had never been made, and of none other.

  • VIII. And to prevent Difputes which often happen, touching the Proof of Certificates given by the

' Officers of any Parifh or Place, acknowledging any Perfon or Perfons therein named, to be an In-

  • habitant or Inhabitants legally fettled in fuch Parifh, Town or Place, by virtue of an Act of Par-

' liament made in the eighth and ninth Years of the Reign of his late Majefty King William the 8& 9 w -3-

  • Third,, and for making fuch Certificates more effectual,' Be it enacted by the Authority aforefaid, ^. 3 °' ,

That from and after the twenty-fourth Day of June in the Year of our Lord one thoufand feven hun- tmeses of Set-* dred and thirty,, the Witnefles who atteft the Execution of fuch Certificates by the Churchwarden or tiements to Churchwardens!, Overfeer or Overfeers, figning and fealing the fame, or one of the faid Witneffes, fwear that they ihall make Oath before the Juftices of the Peace, who by the faid Act are directed to allow the w 7rdens, &c#- fame (which Oath they are hereby authorized to adminifter) that fuch Witnefs or Witneffes did fee fign them, the Churchwarden or Churchwardens, Overfeer or Overfeers, whofe Names and Seals are thereunto fubferibed and fet, feverally fign and feal the faid Certificate, and that the Names of fuch Witneffes attefting the faid Certificate are of their own proper Hand writing ; which faid Juftices of the Peace fhall alfo certify that fuch Oath was made before them ; and every fuch Certificate fo allowed, and Oath of the Execution thereof fo certified, by the faid Juftices of the Peace, (hall be taken, deemed and allowed,, in all Courts whatfoever, as duly and fully proved, and fhall be taken and received as Evidence, without other Proof thereof; and that all Certificates given in purfuance of the faid Act, before the faid twenty- fourth Day of June one thoufand feven hundred and thirty, fhall be alfo taken and allowed in all Courts as Evidence, without other Proof; provided the fame are duly allowed by two Juftices of the Peace, as by the faid Act is required.

  • IX. And whereas by an Act made in the eighth and ninth Years of the Reign of his late Majefty

  • and every Perfon and Perfons and their Families, which come from any other Parifhes or Places with
  • fuch Certificates of their Settlement, as in the faid Act are directed and required, until fuch Certificate-
  • Perfons become chargeable, in which cafe and no others, the Parifhes and Places to which they have
  • been fent by Certificate, are authorized to reconvey, and thofe from whence they came, required to
  • receive the faid Certificate Perfons and their Families, as their proper Parifhioners and Inhabitants ; but
  • no Provifion is made in the faid Act for reimburfing the Pariihes and Places the Charges they may be

' put to in reconveying the faid Certificate Perfons to their former Parifhes and Settlements, or for the

  • Maintenance of them when fick or difabled, till they may be in a Condition to be fo removed, where-
  • by divers Pariihes and Places are often put to great and unavoidable Expences in removing and
  • maintaining fuch Certificate Perfons and their Families : ' Now to remedy and prevent the fame for

the future, be it enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That when any Overfeer or Overfeers of the Overfeers to be- Poor of any Parifh or Place, or other Perfon, (hall remove back any Perfon or Perfons or their Families, "conveying ™ refiding in fuch Pariih or Place, or fent thither by Certificate, and becoming chargeable as aforefaid, to Certificate Ser- ine Pariih or Place to which fuch Perfon or Perfons (hall belong, fuch Overfeers or other Perfons fhall be fons ' reimburfed fuch reafonable Charges as they may have been put unto, in maintaining and removing fuch Perfon or Perfons, by the Churchwardens or Overfeers of the Poor of the Parifh or Place, to Concerning- Poor- which fuch Perfon or Perfons is or are removed, the faid Charges being firft afcertained and allowed ^qJ^'^'X 'L of by one or more of his Majefty T s Juftices of the Peace for the County or Place to which fuch Removal aTjg,' f " fhall be made ; which faid Charges, fo afcertained and allowed, fhall, in cafe of Rtfufal of Payment, 31 l.«. 2. c. n«  be levied by Diftrefs and Sale of the Goods and Chatties of the Churchwardens and Overfeers of the Poor of the Pariih or Place to which fuch Certificate Perfon or Perfons is or are removed by War- rant or Warrants under the Hand and Seal or Hands and Seals of fuch Juftice or Juftices, re- turning the Overplus, if any there be ; which Warrant- or Warrants he or they are hereby required' to grant. eA'p;
